SUPERMAN BRANDON ROUTH JOINS CAST FROM ARROW, DOCTOR WHO AND BUFFY FOR OTTAWA’S SECOND EDITION OF POP EXPO

November 03, 2014

For immediate release

Ottawa (Ontario), Monday, November 3, 2014 – With less than a month to go for the second edition of Ottawa Pop Expo, which will be held on November 22-23 at EY Centre, we are proud to announce the appearance of Brandon Routh, best known as Clark Kent/Superman in director Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns (2006). Brandon Routh has appeared in a plethora of films, including Kevin Smith’s Zack and Miri (2008) and Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010). He has also made a name for himself on the small screen with guest starring roles in series like Chuck, and, most recently, Arrow, where he will appear throughout the current season as Ray Palmer, best known to DC comic book fans as ‘The Atom’.

Brandon Routh joins previously announced guests, including guest of honour John Barrowman, best known for his role of Captain Jack Harkness in the sci-fi series Doctor Who and its spin-off Torchwood, and now starring on Arrow as Malcolm Merlyn. Also present will be one of the most prominent actors in genre television, James Marsters, who guest-starred on Torchwood as Captain John Hart, and first captured the hearts of millions as the platinum-blond vampire Spike in the hit series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Another Buffy-alum, Emma Caulfield, best known as the demon-turned-high-school-cheerleader, Anya, will join the event as well. Among the other guests are Joe Flanigan (John Sheppard on Stargate Atlantis), Allison Mack (editor of the high school newspaper, Chloe Sullivan, on Smallville), Rob Archer (Lost Girl), Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager), wrestling legend Leaping Lanny Poffo, and Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead).

There’s a little something for everyone, as Ottawa Pop Expo will feature several activities, including popular culture-themed panel discussions, workshops on costuming and writing, and Celebrity Q&A’s where fans get to ask questions. Celebrity guests will be signing fans items and participating in photo opportunities (photo ops) on both days. On Saturday evening, the ever-popular masquerade will be one of the highlights, where participants strut onto the Pop Expo stage with their costume creations from the worlds of science fiction, video games, anime, comic books, horror and cartoons, to compete in different categories. The show floors at EY Centre will be hosting over 50,000 square feet of geeky Holiday shopping, the ideal place for those hard to find items and collectibles, as well unique toys and gear for the kiddies.

More guests and activities are to be announced in the coming weeks and a detailed schedule will be available by November 15, 2014.  Photo ops are available for presale as of today or can be purchased on site.

Ottawa Pop Expo will take place at the EY Centre on November 22-23, 2014. Tickets are available online starting at $25 for a daily adult pass. Please visit www.ottawapopexpo.ca for tickets, details and updates.
